Cell Phone/I-Pod Tote Carry your tunes or your cell phone everywhere you want to go when you don't want to carry a purse. So adorable, you may want to make some for gifts. Crafting Time: Varies based on expertise. Materials:
Instructions These instructions probably sound more complex than they are...but detailed instructions were included in case you are unfamiliar with the stitches. This bag is worked as a flat piece on the loom. Adjust number of pegs wrapped to the size needed. It is really important not to wrap tightly, especially for the Chunky Braid so you can get the loops over the peg. When pulling multiple loops over the peg, it is sometimes easier to only pull one or two up over at a time. Step 1: E- wrap pegs 1 - 11. Step 2: After coming around peg 11 in row 1, come behind peg 10 and e-wrap the opposite direction to peg 1. Note, you will now have 2 loops on only 10 of the pegs, only one loop on peg 11. Step 3: After coming around peg 1 in row 2, come behind peg 2 and ewrap to peg 11. You now have 2 loops on pegs 1 and 11 and 3 loops on the rest of the pegs. This is the Drop Stitch Method of working a flat piece which gives a nice finished edge. Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 once. Step 5: You now should have 3 loops on pegs 1 and 11, and 5 loops on pegs 2-10. Using your loom tool, pull the bottom loops over the top loop so you only have one loop left on the peg. This means you will pull 2 loops over 1 loop on pegs 1 and 11 and 4 loops over 1 loop on pegs 2-10. This is the Chunky Braid Stitch. Step 6: Double knit 80 rows. Do this by repeating steps 2 and 3 and pulling 1 loop over 2 loops on pegs 2-10 and 1 loop over 1 loop on pegs 1 and 11. Step 7: Another Chunky Braid. Repeat steps 2 - 5. Step 8: Remove from loom with crochet hook. Put crochet hook through loop on peg 1 and lift off, then lift loop off of peg 2 with crochet hook and pull through loop 1, lift loop from peg 3 and pull through loop 2, repeat to end. After cutting the working yarn so you have a 4" tail, pull tail through last loop. Step 9: Fold to appropriate height leaving enough for a flap to fold over and whip stitch sides using matching yarn. Always leave tails on yarn you are working with. You can weave those in upon finishing. Step 10: Use yarn needle and weave all loose yarn ends into knitting. Handle: Step 1. Divide yarn into 3 sets of 3 and braid. It is helpful to tie up each group of 3 lengths into bundles so they do not get tangled as you go. Step 2: Take the right most 3 lengths of yarn over the middle 3 lengths of yarn. Step 3: Take the left 3 lengths of yarn over the middle 3 lengths of yarn. Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 -3 to within 4 inches of end. Step 5: Tie a knot Step 6: Attach handle to purse by using yarn needle and matching yarn and sewing onto sides of purse of which you just whip stitched together. The knotted tassle should be right at the bottom of the bag. By putting fingers inside bag, and holding braid to seam, begin stitching the braid onto the bag. Leave tails during your stitching. After stitching is complete, weave all tails in using your yarn needle. |
