Classes and Upcoming Events 2008

 

We offer classes for knitting board looms, round looms, needle felting, felted purses, felted hats, different scarf techniques, and much more.  We will keep our schedule updated as the year progresses so check back regularly.  If you are interested in a class not listed yet or if you want to be added to our email list for the class schedule, please send your information to info@FiberInspirations.com.   We look forward to meeting you at one of our classes.

November 1, Saturday

Natural Dye Class
Carlson Building
239 Main Street, Elizabeth, CO
10:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Instructor: Donna Brown
Cost: $80.00

Learn the basics of natural dyeing using safe eco-friendly natural dye extracts on alpaca yarn. You will learn the easy steps for successful immersion dyeing from preparing the fiber, mordanting, weighting the dyes, preparing the dye pot, and experiencing the beautiful vibrant natural dye palette. This is a beginner's hands-on class that will be your foundation for all of your natural dyeing projects. Techniques covered are applicable to other natural fibers. Take home complete instructions and a swatch set representing a full spectrum of basic colors.

The instructor, Donna Brown, is a fiber artist with degrees in Textile Chemistry and Clothing and Textiles; a natural dye expert and teacher of natural dyeing and artcloth. Donna teaches across the Untied States in venues such as Penland School of Craft, Missouri Fiber Retreat, Color Congress, and Estes Park Wool Market, sharing her knowledge and passion for natural dyes.

Bring your unfinished projects or start a new one. Spin, weave, knit, crochet, felt, loom, and do other fiber arts. You are not required to have any particular level of expertise – only a desire to learn, share, and have fun. Hope you can join us!

Ye Olde Yuletide Bazaar
The Fieldhouse Dransfelt & Plaza Dr, Parker, CO
9:00 - 5:00 p.m.

A shopper's delight on November 8 inside the new Fieldhouse in Parker.  Over 75 vendors will be featuring products and services, including holiday fare.  Mountain Pine Women's Club, a service organization in Parker, is sponsoring the all-day event and will be serving chili, homemade soups, hotdogs, homemade pies and other sweet treats. The bazaar is FREE to the public.

ABR Fall Festival
The Ranch (Larimer County Fairgrounds), Loveland, CO
10:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Alpacas are approachable, soft, and cuddly - and are considered by many to be the finest livestock investment available. Come visit with, and learn all about these incredibly, beautiful animals.

At the ABR Fall Fest, you can truly enjoy the alpaca’s wide range of 22 beautiful, natural colors in white, beige, fawn, brown, gray, and multi-colors.

In the show ring, the judges will critique the alpacas based on a list of positive and negative traits including: type, quality, conformation, movement, soundness, fiber quality, and disposition.,/p>

There will be educational seminars with exciting topics such as how to get started in the alpaca business, fence and barn setup, pasture management, marketing of alpacas, and the financial aspect of the business.
